| The Party Time in Shoeville kit breaks shoe tying down into 12 easy steps which can be taught at the individual's own pace. Both linguistic and visual teaching' methods are used so that students with various learning styles will learn easily. Typically when students are taught to tie their shoes, they are presented with a plain set of shoe laces with no reference points or story to guide them.
The Shoeville kit solves these problems by using color-coded laces with various vehicles at key points on the laces. While listening to or retelling a story about the residents of Shoeville getting ready for a party, students drive the vehicles on the laces around a game board. The board has 12 steps that the students match with the vehicles on the laces. 12 step cards clearly demonstrate how the laces should be held and placed each step of the way. |

The "I Did My Chores" system by Pressing Publications is a fun way to get your kids to do their chores. No reading skills are required since 48 preprinted stickers with drawings of a cute monkey performing various chores are included. You can either use these stickers or create your own with Picture This... photos For each chore that your child completes, he earns a token which can be redeemed for pre-determined rewards. 300 tokens are included with the system.
"I Did My Chores" can also be adapted to tasks that require several steps to complete such as getting dressed or brushing teeth. Simply use the sequencing pictures from Picture This..., and place a different one onto each card. Cover the time of day labels with Step # 1 - 5. Many students are taught to add and subtract using a number line. For some students, this can be a difficult skill to grasp. Many become confused because they must point to one number while saying something else. For example, if the equation is 3 + 2 = 5, the student should point to the 3 first, then count up by pointing to the 4 while saying one and pointing to the 5 while saying 2.
The sliding number line helps to eliminate all of this confusion. The student simply slides the first number of the equation into the red box. Then using the red circle guides, the students counts up by saying +1, +2. When the students reaches +2, he follows the arrow and reads the correct answer.
The sliding number line has two sides: addition and subtraction. The inner card can be taken out and used as a standard number line once the student has mastered basic number line skills. For more advanced students, the number line can also be used to teach the concept of "x". The student simply uses the number line in reverse and reads the answer for "x" in the red box.
